We chose from the bites menu ordering mandarin duck pancakes, pork belly steamed buns, chicken satay skewers and butter fish sashimi. All were delicious with the steamed buns the stand out dish. For dessert the kaffir lime tartlet with a ‘traditionalist’ cocktail.
The restaurant is lovely and the staff were so friendly. I definitely recommend Ibu Susu.
Went with my kids for H/H by chance and was kindly given a corner table and ended up having dinner, 4 cocktails, 2 beers with my son. Cocktails are good especially the Lycheelicious. Yums! Ordered the veggie rolls which was better then it looked; Ketut chicken was to die for; rendang was good and tender although I think I would have had a bit more spicy; pork belly was super tender and melted in my mouth. Overall, had a great time there. And the team there were amazing- easy going and attentive. Will be back – maybe Tonite!
We hired a driver for the day who wanted to take us to a tourist trap! I had the pork belly which was amazing. The staff is very friendly.
What a brilliant place! We called in without a reservation, planning just to have a couple of drinks. The cocktails were inventive and delicious – the Friends with Benefits which is topped with a blow-torched, caramelised passion fruit and served with a shot glass of prosecco was a great mix of texture and flavours – and we loved sitting at the bar and watching the staff in action. We couldn’t initially get a table but had the option of eating at the bar, which other people were doing and which helped create a really convivial buzz in what is a really well-planned space. As one booking didn’t turn up, we were offered a table – but as it’s a small bar/restaurant it’s probably wise to book in advance. The food was excellent: Ketut’s fried chicken was a delicious and substantial starter; the duck red curry and beef redang were richly flavoursome; the pork belly was perfectly done and the side dishes were excellent. Everything was carefully presented and the service was efficient and friendly. Ketut, the man in charge, is an urbane, experienced and very cool host, who makes customers feel valued and clearly sets high standards for his staff.
I visited IBU SUSU recently and enjoyed the atmosphere & the food. The space is a cross between a restaurant & cafe but more upmarket. They have a trendy fit out with natural elements throughout.
The food was excellent: I had the tofu steam buns, the vegetarian summer roll (rice paper roll) and the crispy soft shell crab with papaya salad. All well made & the flavours were great. The only thing I didn’t like was the brown sauce that accompanied the summer roll. It wasn’t for me, however that didn’t matter as they serve it with another dipping sauce.
I also had the Lycheelicious cocktail which was very refreshing.
Price wise, it’s definitely a little more expensive than other establishments around but the quality is worth paying the extra for.
Went for a quick lunch and I was impressed with the quality and sophistication of the food (certainly for the price) as well as the impeccable service! I had the soft shell crab salad and one of the juices – both excellent. The place is also on a mission to recycle, more so than I’ve ever seen anywhere (including US & Europe). Definitely worth a visit!!
We dined here the night of the earthquake in early August. The manager was so concerned with the welfare of the customers that he went around speaking to every table. Excellent customer service and really classy.
The food is great and the cocktails are absolutely incredible. I was sad to leave this restaurant behind in Bali.
So glad we randomly stumbled into IBU SUSU. Reservations were full but they had open seating at the bar. The food was EXCELLENT and the bar staff was exciting to watch. Such great attention to detail. The drinks coming from the bar all looked like works of art. We ate spring roll, pork buns, kang kong water spinach, and fried chicken. Staff is very friendly. Highly recommended! Had no clue it was ranked so high on Tripadvisor but totally makes sense.
This bar is amazing. We went for the cocktails which were some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Good measures and really imaginative flavours. We went twice during our short stay and ate both times. Once we had the salads – the crab salad is a must – and once just for some quick bites – the vegetable rolls are unreal! After a minor incident with a flying spoon and my drink being spilled on the bar, the manager insisted he make me a cocktail of my choice which was unexpected and so lovely. When we were leaving and unable to get a taxi, the manager called a driver for us who ended up being our driver for our stay.
I cannot emphasise enough how wonderful this bar is: tasty food, amazing cocktails and the service is second to none. An absolute must if you’re in the area. Thank you for such a great time.
Yes, what should you say?
Mother milk (Ibu Susu) has the city’s prettiest daughter painted on the end wall. Great food, which is super cozy food that is best when shared. The drinks should be tested, it is pure art and you will certainly order more.
We were at Ibu Susu for the first time in Christmas holidays, it was the best resturant experience for the trip. This summer went back to Bali / Ubud, of course with more visits to this resturant, it has become a wonderful success !!!
Thanks to Ketut and all his staff !!!
Ibu Susu is just awesome. I’ve been there a few times now and every time I try new dishes and cocktails – every bite or sip is sensational! They have a very exciting menu on offer, my personal favourite dishes include the soft shell crab salad and the pork belly steamed buns and for cocktails its hard to beat their lycheelisious martini! The staff are also super friendly and attentive. Ibu Susu is definitely a treat not to be missed. I’ll be returning again and again.
I think this place lives up to the good reviews. I went back a second time, I liked it so much. Try the pork belly buns, and the papaya salad was also delicious. Friendly and attentive service as well.
Excellent food and service and really clean. Highly recommend a visit. We had Ketul’s fried chicken and soft shell crab and green mango salad which we shared and the beef rendang and roast pork belly with the most delicious crispy smashed potatoes. Our only problem was that the servings were so ample that we could not finish it all. Well worth the money.
Great place to meet up with friends, the food is exceptional a good selection to choose from fresh and very well prepared can’t go wrong ordering the Tempura Vegetables, Pork Belly and Beef Rendang
The cocktails are amazing very creative worth getting there for Happy Hour… You may need to book as this restaurant is getting very popular.
We had a great night out at Ibu Susu – the staff are awesome and super friendly. The food is fantastic and the place has a cool vibe to it. Highly recommend you check it out!
Great place for Dinner or drinks, music was good, staff was friendly, food was really tasty , and the cocktails were amazing (considering the drinks were so good i wasnt expecting food to be also very tasty only few places can do both so well). Perfect place if u would like to have good drinks in a nice laidback environment.
I would recommend the chocolat brulee (desert) which i never tasted before and was extremely good
Wow! This place is full of customers and you need to book before going. Drinks are very cool and you must order house hamburger for lunch 🙂 employers are very welcoming, they helped us in many things 🙂
The food here is amazing! Top quality cocktails and the service is impeccable! We had a few starters.. the pork belly buns are to die for! I had the beef rendang for my main and I was not disappointed! Great quality food I would recommend to anyone in the area
There is a touch of class and imagination about this restaurant. The staff are very well trained by the owner Ketut who has a very warm and easygoing nature. We were not hassled between courses and we appreciated being asked when we would like our next course.
The dim sum was superb as was the tempura vegetables. We ate the starters after enjoying some amazing cocktails- her majes-tea and golden monkey. I had the “tea” which was served in a cup with smoke coming out of the teapot. But unbeknown to me it was dry ice! The flavour was intriguing and included Dom Benedictine with hickory chips.
My main course was a soft crab shell stir fry with black pepper- fantastic. My wife had the beef Rendang which was a large serving. It was very tasty but was not as tender as it should’ve been after 8 hours slow cooking – a little like pulled pork texture but still tasty.
The wine selection was impressive- we chose a bottle of Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2012. Unfortunately it was corked. But there was no trouble in exchanging it for an Italian Pinot Grigio. And that was very good.
We were full so we thought we would skip dessert. So we ordered another round of cocktails. I had one of the best whisky sours (made with Black Douglas) I have tasted and my wife had to have another golden monkey.
But Ketut had other ideas and he presented us with a free dessert to share. It was a memorable rich chocolate mousse with a crispy crust. We thought the whole dining experience was very good value. If you want to enjoy dining at another level then this is the place!
So good at the end we all agreed we had to book again for our last night in Ubud. The soft shell crab, pork belly and steam pork buns were beautiful and the cocktails were divine and slightly different combinations to the norm. For the quality of the food it is well priced and it has a lovely atmosphere with friendly staff.
Absolutely loved this place, the cocktail list is so inventive, reasonably priced, the food was yummy, the starters were the best, the mains were a bit bland but the staff and ambience more than made up for that!
During my visit(s) in March, 2018, Ibu Susu was a relative newcomer on Ubud’s dining & drinking scene. The owner, Ketut, spent several years in Austrailia to up his game in the restaurant & bar industry. After hearing heaps of praise in regards to the cocktails, I stopped by to check them out. After downing a Salted Caramel Espresso Martini, a Frozen Coco Matcha & a Bali Julep, the praise is well deserved. Another night I was there specifically to give the food a try. Ketut recognized me immediately from the previous visit & came over to say “hello.” I had Ketut’s fried chicken, as well as the chicken & prawn dim sum. The fried chicken was good, but I especially liked the dim sum. They have 2 for 1 cocktails during Happy Hour from 5-7. The Pandan Colada is another winner! I asked one of the staff is Ketut is a good boss. He responded “He’s not a boss. He’s a LEADER!” In my opinion, that says it all.
I am literally still sitting in IBU SUSU writing this review. It is actually amazing. Pork belly is amazing. Soft shell crab- amazing. Ketut’s fried chicken- “BETTER THAN KFC” according to the hardest man to please in the world (food wise).
You do need to make a booking- don’t be that guy who just showed up with a party of 8 in a Friday night and expected a table.
You will not be disappointed- IBU SUSU is well worth a visit while in Ubud.
Found Ibu Susu when it started to pour with rain one afternoon. Menu looked great, but when we went in the kitchen was closed because they had such a busy lunch service. We decided to sit down anyway and take advantage of the 2 for 1 cocktails they had on offer. Glad we did, they weren’t the usual cocktails you find during other happy hours. These were unique and delicious. When the kitchen re opened we ordered the soft shell crab, pork buns, rice paper rolls and smoked chicken salad. It was all amazing, fresh ingredients, great flavours.
Service was great too. Highly recommended
We decided to visit for dinner based on previous reviews and I made a reservation well in advance. The restaurant is bright and cheery and has a great atmosphere, the staff are all very friendly and we were welcomed to the restaurant by Ketut and shown to our table. The menu is Balinese fusion with a very modern twist and deciding what to order took some time. We had starters of Butterfish Sashimi, Thai Papaya and Pomelo salad and the steamed pork belly buns, OMG everything was outstanding the sashimi melted in your mouth and I could have eaten another six buns they were so good. For our mains my wife had the chicken satay which she polished off in no time and I had the beef rendang, I like to think I know my Rendangs and this was one of the best I’ve tasted. An espresso martini finished off the night and we went home happy. Please give this place a try if you are in Ubud you won’t regret it, as far as we were concerned it’s the best restaurant in town
The food here is amazing – we returned twice. The flavours are exquisite and the staff are super friendly. Every item we ordered – pork belly bao buns / dim sum / salad / tofu stir fry was delicious and full of flavour. Despite being in demand, nobody rushes you out. Best restaurant in Ubud.
We stumbled across this place by chance and it was packed in comparison to the surrounding restaurants which were all dead at around 9pm. As soon as we sat down, we quickly realised how friendly and attentive, as well as knowledgeable, the staff were.
The food was out of this world. We opted for a mix of small plates – chicken satay with peanut sauce and taramin butter, Peking duck pancakes with hoisin sauce, Korean fried chicken and finally some chicken and prawn dim sum with an extra portion of fries. Everything was incredible and tasted fantastic. So fresh and full of flavour. The drinks were equally delightful and so well thought out being garnished perfectly.
The final touch was how engaged and welcoming the owner was, constantly talking to his customers and just being brilliant in general.
I could not rate a restaurant any higher and would urge anyone in Ubud to make it a must visit destination.
This new restaurant radiates enthusiasm. Everything we tried on the menu has an original little twist, and presentation was beautiful. The young owner Ketut is friendly and involved in everything, which is why his business has taken off. The first night we couldn’t get a booking, but after that we booked a couple of nights ahead. Had a wonderful meal.
On our last night, we had a sick child and had to cancel our ‘return to our favourite restaurant’ booking and get takeaway from Ibu Susu’s. It started to rain heavily. Ketut lent me an umbrella which I was so grateful for. It’s indicative of the restaurant’s friendliness that they offered me an umbrella to return the next day, on trust.
Ketut studied/trained in Melbourne and we felt sure that his food standards, were as good as the stylish, warm decor. Great job. We’re sure your little restaurant will continue to be a big success.
This was the best meal that we are on Ubud! The beef rendang was amazing and duck pancakes we’re delicious. The cocktail menu is interesting and the cocktails themselves are fantastic (and strong). Make sure that you make a booking as it can get quite busy.
I had an amazing time at Ibu Susu – the team was so friendly and the cocktails were just perfect. A great selection of original mixes, using local fruits and flavor. My favourites were the Bali Julep and Salted Caramel Expresso Martini, a must try!
The food could not be faulted as well; absolutely stunning flavours. Highly recommend the beef rendang and the pork belly steamed buns!
Thank you Ibu Susu team for a great night full of laughters 🙂
Found this place on Tripadvisor, and did not regret going! We actually went here 2 times on our 3 night stay in Ubud because of the great experience the first night. Really good food, great service and awesome cocktails. Just go there!
We spent 5 nights in Ubud and visited Ibu Susu 3 times. Having seen the solid TripAdvisor reviews, we actually stumbled across it on our first day and lucky for us it was happy hour. Excellent cocktails and amazing food – wonderful flavours and amazing veggie / vegan options. Lovely ambience in the evening and staff were all friendly. Top spot!
We are visiting Ubud on our honeymoon and came across this website, doing some research on google, it did not disappoint. Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff and nice to see an owner well involved and working in the business. He has good knowledge of wine and cocktails as these are reasonably priced and very good. Food was very good quality and again great value for money. Brilliant set up and a must go place if you are near UBUD, BALI. Thank you
My family booked for us to have dinner here to celebrate my birthday. The host went out of his way to explain the menu and make recommendations. We had delicious cocktails to start and a selection of meals to share. Every single dish was tasty and I am so glad we had his recommendations. We even ordered more dishes as we had enjoyed the first selection so much.
They arranged a huge surprise dessert for me and a shooter with a 50 candle (my family brought with them) and the restaurant staff all sang happy birthday.
This is not a cheap restaurant but the food, atmosphere and cocktails are so worth it. Definitely give IBU SUSU a try.
Ketut and his staff set the tone for a memorable meal. A true maître d, he is charming and has the ability to make all guests feel special. The drinks were creative and the food contemporary and top quality. Wait time for each course was spot on- the meal literally flowed seamlessly from the quick bite starters to desert- the chocolate brûlée was AMAZING!
Worth booking for! It took us 3 nights to get a table! Don’t assume you’ll just get in.
My husband and I went here because of the great reviews on TripAdvisor and they were not wrong! The friendly and enthusiastic owner welcomed us at the door. Unfortunately we did not have a reservation and it waa busy but he made room for us at the bar. From there we had a great view of the barkeeps making amazing cocktails. We ordered some ‘bites’, but don’t be fooled they are actually quite large! Especially the buns with pork belly were amazing!!! And don’t get me started on the cocktails…. Great and awesome! Also different and exciting!
As long as we are in Ubud we’ll definitely try and eat again here 😉
Ibu Susu was simply wonderful! Delicious food, great atmosphere, wonderful service and delicious cocktails. My partner and I ordered an array of the small plates to share between us and they were fantastic. The restaurant itself is brilliantly located close to the Monkey Forest where it was easy to park up and walk across. I’d highly recommend eating here if you are staying in Ubud!
This place is a must-stop when you visit Ubud! The drink menu is incredible. Having formerly lived in LA, the SF area, and Australia, Ibu Susu tops the charts in both creativity and quality. The staff are friendly, personable, and fast. The owner of the restaurant personally spoke with us and it was clear that his team loves him. His energy was contagious. He certainly made out last night in Ubud magically memorable!
Great place, with a very friendly staff and great food. Thia Papaya and Pomelo Salad was very good. Tamarind Black Cod is a must try. Overall one of the best places we ate in Ubud
This place is easy to find, its on the right hand side c150m as you go down towards the entrance to the Monkey Forest. There is parking opposite. We went for dinner on June 27th. The first thing that struck me was how good the young staff spoke english.
The menu descriptions don’t do the food justice in my opinion. The food is really exciting & interesting fusion. We ordered the wok fried soft shell crab and the pork belly. Both were fantastic. We also ordered sides of rice & smashed potatoes. Be advised the portion sizes of the mains are very generous. We were tipped off to this fact by the our very cool host Ketut who is leading the way here to make Ibu Susu a premier place to hang out in Ubud.
The wine list is good, and reasonably priced. They have an extensive signature cocktail range too.
This place has a laid back chic and unpretentious vibe. The wifi is good and they have electrical sockets for charging, so i’ll be heading back there to chill with coffee and do some work on my lap top.
Highly recommended for dinner and just hanging out.
We stopped in randomly for quick drinks and found a hidden gem of deliciousness. Highly recommended either for dinner or at least a pre/post dinner snack. We’ll be going back again today!
Would highly recommend the fried chicken buns!
My best friend and I came here for dinner because it was close to our hotel and it was highly recommended on TripAdvisor. We just walked in to the restaurant during dinner rush without reservations and got lucky with seating within 5 minutes. But, I would recommend calling in and making a reservation if you can since it is a small and popular restaurant.
The cocktails were definitely the star of the dinner for me. I got the lychee martini. For my friend, the pork belly was the star of the show. I love the modern take on Asian food and the tropical inspired cocktails. I definitely recommend to eating here when in Ubud for a casual dinner.
Close to monkey forest and our hotel.Small busy restaurant with good clean Bali decor.Interesting and very good cocktails.Good to see affordable wine around fifty dollar mark on menu. Also BYO allowed at a small charge.Had the duck pancakes and fried chicken to start. Both full of flavour although quite filling. Rendang for mains was full of flavour and moist but done traditionally dry.Red duck curry could have been more simplified and with better cuts of duck although still tasty.Always the debate not attentive or too attentive.I thought maybe too attentive.Owner onto a long term winner here.
Small and a bit trendy/hip for this forty- something couple but the excellent reviews and proximity drew us in.
Not disappointed. Small and intimate. Small-ish menu but the food has been lovely. I specifically site the soft shell crab with basil main course.
Incidentally I like the idea of the bamboo straws being used…little things.
Fair pricing, good food, nice atmosphere, and decent service. Good by me.
On a recent trip to Bali we stopped here in Ubud. The drinks were fantastic and the bartenders were very nice. I’m sad we didn’t stay for dinner but their happy hour cocktails were spectacular!
We visited Ubi Susi for the first time on a rainy day in Ubud. I ordered the tofu and Thai basil steamed bun, and then another one when it was over – it’s that good. Came back for more and tried the pork belly steamed buns. Heaven. As an espresso martini lover, it rivalled the birthplace of the drink at The Ivy, London. It’s my go to drink and I must say – achieving a delicate balance with the sharp bitter sweet flavours is impressive. I hear they have a happy hour too – thanks Ketuk for your hospitality!
The food was excellent and inventive. Best dish I had was the green papaya and soft shell crab salad, but all the dishes we had were good. Good wine list. Expensive by Bali standards, but a really nice dinner for 4 with wine was about US$100. Best food we had in Bali.
Came here one night on recommendation from a friend and was blown away by the amazing cocktails and food. Every single drink was beautifully made and tasted delicious (and almost all under $10 AUD for cocktails!) and the food was perfect. Generous servings, very good prices and all really fresh and well done. Must try the pork belly buns, Ketut’s fried chicken and the soft shell crab! Came back a second night and was equally impressed by it all, especially by the (owner?) Ketut who made both nights lovely and even treated us to a Chocolate Brûlée 🙂 would definitely come back!
We stopped in for a drink and weren’t hungry. But the food looked incredible so we ordered a couple of appetizers which were amazing. The sauces with the chicken satay were so good and the chicken very tender. The drinks were delicious so we ended up staying much longer than anticipated. I had one and I can’t remember the name but it was jalapeño infused tequila with pineapple juice. If you like drinks with a bit of a kick this one is for you! Would highly recommend this place.
Just had dinner at IBU SUSU. We were absolutely delighted with the food and the service. You have to get a cocktail, they are devine! The manager was incredibly helpful along with all the other staff. We were after great Indonesian food to enjoy our Bali holiday and this place delivered. It has such a modern vibe! Do yourself a favour and order the soft shell green mango salad – it’s flavoursome & refreshing.
This restaurant has an amazing zen atmosphere in the bustling streets of Ubud. The staff is incredibly attentive and everything on the menu is amazing. We loved our dinner here so much that we came back the next day for lunch to keep trying different dishes on the menu. Can’t wait to go back the next time we make it to Ubud! The owner, Ketut even came over to our table to welcome us and thank us for making a reservation at his restaurant. This place is a gem!
Found this on trip advisor and was sceptical because of how little reviews there were but don’t let that stop you, the food was some of the best we have eaten on our 10 day trip. The beef rendang and the pork buns were especially good.
Visiting Ubud every year, we’re alway seeing new food outlets.. you sometimes try them or stick to your favourites knowing the kitchen, the service, sometimes the owner. Ibu Susu was a special surprise, It’s much more than a bar, the foods a standout… Asian fusion, I’d call it. The taste of our two visites is still with us days latter… definitely up there.
The manager of the restaurant was so friendly and made cocktail and meal suggestions for both meat eaters and vegetarians and everything suggested was delicious. It was our favourite place to eat in Ubud and wish we had more time to eat here again. We ordered the pork belly, twice cooked chicken, beef rendang and the mandarin bbq tofu crepes and we could not fault a thing. The serving sizes are quite large and reasonably priced. It’s worth booking a table so you don’t miss out.
We ate here one night and tried several apps. First off as all the reviews say the cocktails are truly the best we had on our two week trip in Bali. Soooo good! The staff and service was top notch. We tried 4-5 apps, they were all good, but the highlight was definitely the cocktails!
My wife and I came here on one of our first nights in Ubud and we’re so impressed we came back again.
We came early since we normally skip lunch and do an early dinner, which was a bonus for us because 4-6 pm they have buy one get one free cocktails for happy hour.
The cocktails were really, really good. The Pandacolada and the Espresso martini were my two favorites. I even enjoyed the lycheetini, which is normally too sweet for me, but this was really well balanced.
The shumai with chicken and shrimp were fabulous. Between our two trips, the stand out dishes were the beef rendang, the duck curry and the pork belly. The rendang was very tender and well seasoned. The pork belly was done really well in a 5 spicy style (but not the crappy pre-mixed stuff you get back home). It’s also huge, having three large thick cut slices of pork belly cooked just right.
In Ubud, we had some good food and some not so impressive food, but both of our meals at IBU SUSU easily the best we had. High quality and solid portions for the price. I will note that because of their excellent food and drink, they seem to be building quite the following (which is well deserved) and the restaurant started to fill up rapidly right around 6 pm.
We came here for an evening meal during our stay in Ubud. We had starters and mains both of which were excellent quality and very good value. The duck pancakes and chicken wings tasted great. The need for the main was huge with so much meat and again had a great flavour. Nicely presented and had a good atmosphere. The owner cane over and made sure everything was ok and seemed very friendly. Great place for a relaxed and informal meal. Well done!
This was our favourite place in Ubud. The cocktails are amazing! The food is fantastic. The ambience is perfect. I’m so sad we only got to go once.
Go here. You won’t regret it.
So many 5 star reviews, what more can you say. Relaxed atmosphere, beautiful food in both taste and appearance, not a massive menu but think that works in its favour. Starters come in huge portions and everything we had was so very well cooked and appealing. We were lucky to be staying very close so visited a few times. Really friendly owner, with such a lovely way about him without being intrusive. Evenings get mega busy after 7, so many people turned away, obviously because of such great reviews, although you can sit at the bar, have a drink and wait for an availsble table. Would definitely make an effort to return here when next in Ubud. Congratulations, youve got everything right! Couldnt fault it 🙂
Wow Wow Wow!!! After searching out something for dinner we stumbled upon Ibu Susu which stood out on Monkey Forest Road. Ketut the owner immediately beckoned us in with his warm exuberant smile and settled us in. The staff were very friendly, proficient and knowledgeable of the menu and were happy to offer recommendations.
The menu is very, very fairly priced with most light bites approx 50k and mains 100k, cocktails starting at about 95k. The cocktail list is phenomenal, with so much creativity we’ll definitely be back to sample them all.
We had a Salted Caramel Espresso Martini (the best Martini I’ve genuinely ever had anywhere) as a pre dinner cocktail.
For starters we enjoyed the Ketut’s Fried Chicken, Papaya & Pomelo Salad and the Butterfish Sashimi. For mains we had the Beef Randang and the Duck Curry with roti. ALL of the dishes were absolutely spectacular!! I honestly can’t stress enough how how amazing and fresh all the dishes were. We walked away completely satiated and excited to cancel tomorrow nights booking just to get back here ASAP.
They’re also open to midnight each night, so perfect for late night diners. If you’re not eating here, you’re just not eating. Stop searching and go… Now!!
Pulled up to have a quick squeeze at the menu. Thought we’d give it a go….. and bloody hell i was so glad we did. From the greeting to paying the bill. Everything was spot on. The espresso martini was smooth as silk…. the Beef Randang you can’t stop here without trying this beaut of a dish, but don’t forget to have it with a Roti sorry forgot the photo ! Was to busy eating it.
Cheers Ibu Susu team
We ate here twice in our recent stay in Ubud. The restaurant was round the corner from our hotel.
First time was lunch, we had a selection from their small plates and a crab and papaya salad.
We went back another evening for dinner. The was a real buzzing atmosphere to the place. We had black cod, and pork belly and they were both outstanding.
Knowing how expensive wine is in Bali (we had a bottle), the food must have been very reasonably priced.
The owner was helping serve the evening we went and he was very professional and fun at the same time.
Really enjoyed this place
We went for the happy hour, which lasts a few hours and finishes at 6pm. They have some unique cocktails, all very good. My personal favourite a Pandan Colada. The decor is quite funky, It was quite noisy though and a seat at the back may have been more conducive to conversation.
We really enjoyed the food and the exceptionally friendly service. The place to eat in Ubud! Das Essen war der Knaller! Frisch zubereitete Cocktails, teilweise frisch geräuchert- klingt verrückt, schmeckt bombastisch! Weiter so
Salted caramel espresso martini’s are to do for, I also sampled a couple of other cocktails which were equally delicious. I was eating solo so only ordered one dish which was the pork belly – the pork was amazing. I definitely recommend IBU SUSU.
My partner and I came here for dinner while visiting Ubud and we loved it so much that when our friends arrived 2 days later, we went back! Groovy vibe inside with nice decor and open kitchen. The staff are extremely friendly and offer great service. The food was amazing. The cocktails are to die for! Such a good variety for reasonable price. For anyone that loves espresso martinis, their salted caramel espresso is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Such a fun night and will definitely be back!
Dined here in the final evening and can see why this place gets so many 5* ratings. After a hectic day, we opted for 3 mains and two sides with cocktails between two of us. The waiter advised us that we were probably ordering too much food but we carried on with our order. The Beef Rendang, Pork Belly and Soft Shell Crab were all delicious. The two accompanying cocktails had unusual ingredients and were also amazing. Definitely recommend this place….
